Ophthalmic Medical Technician Associate's Degree Program

 

PMI will train you in the general and multiple subspecialties of Ophthalmology so you can grow in the areas that most interest you in the ophthalmic profession. The program will introduce you to diagnostic techniques, psychology, surgical assistant and ophthalmic photography.

Job Outlook for Ophthalmic Medical Technicians

 

Thanks to the introduction of LASIK and cosmetic surgical procedures now offered by Ophthalmologists, Ophthalmic Medical Technician salaries are at an all-time high. Further advances in the field – such as corrective surgery for those who need reading glasses and new diagnostic testing and treatments) increase the need for Ophthalmic Medical Techs.

 

According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Statistics, employment in allied health occupations, including Ophthalmic Techs, is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2018.

 

 

Ophthalmic Medical Technician Training Licensure and Certification

 

Our Ophthalmic Medical Technician Training program will prepare you for the national technicians certifying exam administered by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO). Graduates may also pursue additional certification in ophthalmic photography, ultrasound, low vision and surgical assisting.
