Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, or Ultrasound Technicians, are health care professionals who use special equipment to direct high frequency sound waves into areas of a patient’s body to generate an image for the assessment and diagnosis of various medical conditions. This exciting career is in demand and, according to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, job growth for diagnostic medical sonographers is expected to increase by about 18 percent through 2018.
