Participating medical professionals will work with student externs who will perform duties in their respective areas at no charge in exchange for receiving hands-on, work experience in their field of expertise. The student externships range from 160 to 240 hours for six to eight weeks, depending on the specific program.
“It’s a win/win situation for doctors, dentists and veterinarians, as well as our students,” said Babbette Burcaw, campus director for PMI in Las Vegas. “The health practitioners can train the student for their specific office needs, as well as having a no obligation trial period to determine if they would like to hire the student for employment after the externship period expires.”
