Pima Medical Institute Seattle Campus Offering Dental Hygiene Associate Degree

SEATTLE (Feb 15, 2012) - Pima Medical Institute, a leading private medical career college, announced the offering of its latest accredited program at the Seattle campus: the Dental Hygiene program. This associate degree program is a first for Pima Medical Institute in Washington and offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to train students for entry-level positions as dental hygienists.

“We are pleased to offer the Dental Hygiene program at our Seattle campus,” said Carey Hochman, campus director for Pima Medical Institute’s Seattle campus. “It’s an exciting program that meets our students’ career interest and the community’s need for highly skilled, professional health care workers in the dental field.”

The new Dental Hygiene program builds upon Pima Medical Institute’s dedication to offer relevant, quality education. The program helps students develop the skills necessary for success in the field. Students receive classroom instruction that includes topics such as communication, anatomy and physiology, radiography, oral pathology, pain management, dental materials, periodontics and more, along with real-world training that will help them put what they’ve learned into practice.

“Similar programs require students to attend classes for three years,” said Hochman. “Our accelerated, rigorous curriculum prepares students to be competent in clinical dental hygiene in just two years.”

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, dental hygiene ranks among the fastest growing occupations in the country. Due to population growth, an emphasis on preventative dental care and older people who are retaining more teeth, employment of dental hygienists is expected to grow 36 percent through 2018.
