What does a Surgical Technologist do?

  • A Surgical Technologist, or Scrub Technician, Ensures the operating room is sterilized, safe, equipment is functioning properly and the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety
  • Prepares surgical robotics and endoscopic equipment for use during surgery
  • Assists surgeons during surgery, sterilizes equipment and assembles surgical supplies

Some of the courses throughout the Surgical Technology program include Introduction to Surgical Patient Care, Endoscopic Principles and Procedures and Clinical Preparation and Practice. The classes prepare you to work as a Scrub Technician in hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, labor and delivery, plastic surgery centers and more.
