You have a quick-thinking, level head. You are good in a crisis. You work well under pressure, are calm and collected. And you have a passion for helping others. These traits may make a career as an emergency medical technician the perfect fit for you.
As an emergency medical technician, you will be a critical member of the emergency medical services team. A first-responder on the front lines of traumatic situations, you will be expected to provide competent care quickly, offering life-saving support to patients who are critically injured.
Your EMT training at Pima Medical Institute will prepare you for an entry-level career as an emergency medical technician. The courses you will take in school include information on managing pre-hospital sick or injured patients, caring for patients in the field, safely transporting the patient to the emergency department at a medical facility and more.
Once you graduate from the EMT program, you will be eligible to apply to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) and apply for state EMT certification.
