Program Description

The objective of the program is to provide students with didactic and clinical training in preparation for entry-level employment. Students have the opportunity to develop professional skills in customer service, prescription preparation, patient profiling, and drug inventory maintenance.

Program Requirements

How Long is the Program?

Program Length: Approximately 9 months for all locations except Las Vegas. In Las Vegas, the day and evening classes are 36 and 41 weeks, respectively.

Does the Program Provide National Certification Exam Preparation? How Does it Prepare Me for the PTCB Test? 

The nationally accredited and state-licensed program at Pima Medical Institute will prepare you for the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination (CPhT), administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). More states and employers are requiring certification as reliance on pharmacy technicians grows.

Is IV Certification Included in the Class? 

As part of the courses you’ll take during your training in our Pharmacy Technician program, you’ll gain experience with IV therapy. This skill set, most often used in hospitals, helps better prepare students for a variety of jobs in the field, offering graduates a competitive advantage.

Graduates of this program are granted a certificate in Pharmacy Technician and receive a certificate in IV/Sterile Products from the National Pharmacy Technician Association.
