Coursework follows an asynchronous learning structure, meaning you can log in at times that are most convenient to you, while still completing assignments within a logical time frame.

No, there are no clinical components to this program. Students do, however, complete a Professional Capstone during their final semester, which can be used to create a professional e-portfolio and profile.

This capstone applies concepts learned in prior semesters into a final project, using research techniques and course materials to find a solution to an existing health care issue. Students often choose a topic that’s relevant to their current role or company, and use this project as a way to propose and enact change within their organization.


The Degree Advancement Respiratory Care Program, CoARC #510043, Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy Online, holds Provisional Accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (www.coarc.com).

This status signifies that a program with an Approval of Intent has demonstrated sufficient compliance with the Standards (through submission of an acceptable Provisional Accreditation Self-Study Report (PSSR) and any other documentation required by the CoARC, as well as satisfactory completion of an initial on-site visit), to be allowed to admit students. It is recognized as an accredited program by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), which provides enrolled students who complete the program with eligibility for the Respiratory Care Credentialing Examination(s). The program will remain on Provisional Accreditation until it achieves Continuing Accreditation.

Additionally, Pima Medical Institute is accredited through the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). ABHES is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a private, nonprofit, independent accrediting agency.

During the admissions process, your representative will help walk you through the process of transferring previous education credits from other institutions or from Pima Medical Institute, and will assist you in reviewing any additional admissions requirements, if applicable.
