TUCSON, Ariz. (June 15, 2017) – Pima Medical Institute is pleased to announce its reaccreditation by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). The school was given the bureau’s longest accreditation term of six years due to outstanding site evaluations.

Over a period of several months, ABHES visited 12 of the school’s campuses, where it conducted in-depth site visits to ensure each of Pima Medical’s healthcare programs were meeting all required standards. It also conducted a comprehensive evaluation of Pima Medical’s online education division, which offers five bachelor degree programs.

“Such positive outcomes don’t occur without an incredible team effort,” said Pima Medical Institute President and CEO, Fred Freedman. “Our campuses’ leadership, staff, faculty and Regulatory Department were phenomenal as our organization prepared for the reaccreditation process. Their extraordinary hard work enabled us to achieve new heights and add an elevated sense of pride, which has been felt in all corners of our colleges. We couldn’t be more pleased.”

ABHES, in operation since 1969, is nationally recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a private, non-profit independent accrediting agency. Its quality determination is based on rigorous and systematic evaluation. Visits are conducted by allied health professionals from throughout the United States.

“Pima Medical Institute values this peer review process because of the caliber of individuals conducting the visit,” said Amy Brown, Corporate Director of Regulatory Operations. “We received a renewed six-year grant of accreditation — the longest award possible. We are proud of our campuses, programs, faculty and students. When an outside agency conducts a comprehensive peer review process with such outstanding outcomes, it validates the quality of our organization and the educational and career opportunities available to our students and the communities we serve.”

Pima Medical’s campuses in Albuquerque, N.M.; Chula Vista, Calif.; Denver and Colorado Springs, Colo.; East Valley, Mesa and Tucson, Ariz.; Renton and Seattle, Wash.; Las Vegas; Houston and El Paso, TX received the six-year accreditation, along with Pima Medical’s online education division.

Pima Medical offers a variety of certificate, associate and bachelor degree programs in allied health. It also offers a nursing program, which was recently ranked number one in the state of Arizona by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.

The school has operated since 1972, with its first campus opening in Tucson, Ariz. It has since expanded to several western states, and will open a new campus this fall in San Marcos, Calif. It also recently added new campuses in El Paso, TX, and Phoenix.
