If you want to learn about the business side of health care and advance your certification into an associate degree, an online Health Care Administration (HCA) degree from Pima Medical Institute could be a fit for your career.
See how you can take your health care career further with a pathway to success in health care administration.
During your role in health care administration, you will work closely with medical and front office staff to ensure the patient has an optimal experience as well as make sure the work environment is efficient and runs smoothly. Your duties could include offering managerial and administrative support for a medical office relating to office management, electronic health records, business communications, health care management and human resource management.
Often times, our certificate students start out in an entry-level role doing what they love – working with patients in clinical settings or assisting with front- and back-office duties. However, once they get some experience, many find themselves wanting more out of their career. In order to move into management roles or climb the ladder even higher, branching into health care administration is a popular next step.
When you complete one of our applicable certificate programs, you are eligible for the fast-track option to complete the online HCA associate degree program in as little as 12 months. If you’re a student who completed health care training outside of Pima Medical or if you have prior health care experience, you may be eligible to transfer those credits for the accelerated completion option as well.
The certificate programs from Pima Medical that are eligible for this option include:
- Dental Assistant
- Health Care Administrative Certificate
- Medical Assistant
- Medical Billing and Coding
- Patient Care Technician
- Pharmacy Technician
- Sterile Processing Technician
- Veterinary Assistant
What type of role can you achieve with a health care administration degree?
We’re glad you asked. With a health care administration associate degree along with your certification, you are able to enter non-clinical positions in health care, mostly focused on the business and administrative aspects of a medical team. This could include roles such as scheduling coordinator, medical records clerk, front desk supervisor, patient representative and more. As you gain more on-the-job experience or advance your education, such as earning a bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, you might find more opportunity to move into managerial roles, such as office manager, clinical director, hospital administrator and supervisor.
