Programs Offered On This Campus

Dental Assistant

Program Length: Approximately
9 Months

In this program, students will learn how to work closely with a dental care team to ensure the best patient experience and assist in all phases of treatment, from oral care to administrative duties. Courses will focus on preparing patients for examination, taking X-rays, sterilizing equipment, preparing materials for impressions and much more.

Medical Assistant

Program Length: Approximately
9 Months

In this program, students will learn how to work closely with all members of a medical team, including doctors and nurses. Medical assistants perform a range of clinical and clerical duties and act as a liaison between patients and doctors. Courses will focus on anatomy, routine laboratory procedures and frequent patient care procedures. Pima Medical’s training prepares students to begin working in the field with confidence immediately upon graduation.

Pharmacy Technician

Program Length: Approximately
9 Months

In this program, students will learn how to prepare and provide medications for patients. Courses will focus on preparing medication, compounding medications, interacting with those in the medical field such as doctors and nurses, operating automated dispensing equipment and much more. Students will receive professional and clinical training that prepares them for the daily responsibilities of a pharmacy technician.

Phlebotomy Technician

Program Length: Approximately
3 Months

In this program, students will learn how to assist patients with the collection of blood and other clinical specimens. Pima Medical’s hands-on courses focus on blood draws, putting patients at ease, correct labeling and identity verification and processing specimens for testing.

Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Program Length: Approximately
22 Months

In this program, you will learn to utilize specialized equipment to create sonograms, also known as ultrasound scans, and take a look inside the human body and aid in medical diagnosis. You will learn a mix of soft and hard skills, studying pathophysiology, scanning techniques, patient care, ethics and more. From the very first semester, you'll get hands-on experience.

Occupational Therapy Assistant

Program Length: Approximately
20 Months

In this program, you will learn how to provide treatments for those who need to learn how to function independently in their homes and during daily activities. You will take courses that focus on anatomy, growth and development, kinesiology, mental health and many other important areas of focus. Your coursework will utilize real-world labs that prepare you for the workforce.

Radiography

Program Length: Approximately
24 Months

In this program, you will learn how to perform medical diagnostic imaging examinations. Courses will focus on anatomy, equipment protocols, radiation safety and other important areas of focus so you’re equipped with the skills needed to be successful in the field. Our real-world labs use the same equipment you’ll be working with in hospitals or clinics, so you don’t skip a beat on your first day on the job.

Veterinary Technician

Program Length: Approximately 18 Months except in El Paso. The El Paso program is approximately 21 months.

In this program, you will be able to manifest your animal-loving dreams and work in a field dedicated to animal care. Learn about animal behavior, surgical assisting, testing procedures and more. This program offers a unique blended learning experience, with some instruction conducted online and some in-person. Your hands-on expertise will be gained working in well-equipped animal hospital settings.

The length of different healthcare certificate and associate degree programs varies by discipline. Most healthcare certificate programs at the El Paso campus take about 9 to 12 months, while our healthcare associate degree programs typically take around 2 years. Each combines classroom instruction with real-world lab and clinical experience.

We also offer online associates, bachelors, and master’s degrees across different healthcare disciplines.

Depending on the program, students may have the opportunity to complete externships at local hospitals, clinics, diagnostic imaging centers, outpatient care facilities, labs, and other healthcare settings as part of their program.

Yes! While job placement is not guaranteed, Pima Medical Institute provides ongoing career support to all alumni after graduation. Our team helps with job placement, interview preparation, and networking opportunities with local healthcare providers to help graduates find meaningful employment.

Pima Medical supports non-traditional students through academic advising, tutoring, access to housing resources, and other benefits provided by the Student Services team. Returning students are encouraged to meet with Student Services to learn about available resources and local support options.

Pima Medical Institute may accept some transfer credits from accredited institutions provided they: 

  • align with our curriculum
  • meet a required minimum grade
  • are approved by our academic team

Transferability of credits earned at Pima Medical Institute is at the discretion of the receiving college, university, or other educational institution. Students considering transferring to any institution should not assume that credits earned in any program of study at Pima Medical Institute will be accepted by the receiving institution. Similarly, the ability of a degree, certificate, diploma, or other academic credential earned at Pima Medical Institute to satisfy an admission requirement of another institution is at the discretion of the receiving institution. Accreditation does not guarantee credentials or credits earned at Pima Medical Institute will be accepted by or transferred to another institution. To minimize the risk of having to repeat coursework, students should contact the receiving institution in advance for evaluation/ determination of transferability of credits and/or acceptability of degrees, diplomas, or certificates earned.
