This associate degree program will provide you with a general knowledge of business, administration and organization within the healthcare field. Classes focus on health information technology, business communication, management, accounting and computer applications. By earning this associate degree at Pima Medical Institute, you are starting on the pathway toward a rewarding entry-level administrative position in allied healthcare, whether this is your first job or a way to advance your current career. With further advanced degrees, advancement in administrative, managerial or leadership roles is possible.
Graduates of health care administration programs work with medical teams to ensure an optimal patient experience and efficient work environment. They offer support on the managerial and administration aspects of a medical office.
The day-to-day responsibilities will vary greatly depending on specific role and work environment. Tasks can range from general administration in the front office to specialized support for a department. Health care administration graduates can provide support in management, accounting/finance, human resources and more.
Students in the Health Care Administration program will receive training on a number of professional skills, directly relating to office management, electronic health records, business communications, health care management and human resource management.
Classes are taught online by experienced instructors in the field. Though delivered virtually, students will still gain real-world experience through projects and exercises that simulate situations they will encounter on the job. Students will be able to take what they learn in school and apply it on their first day in the workforce.
