By collecting and analyzing body fluids, tissue and other substances to determine normal or abnormal findings, medical laboratory technicians are an integral part of the healthcare team.
What Will I Learn With This Training?
At Pima Medical, you’ll receive hands-on training taking
courses in our real-world labs where, you’ll learn how to:
- analyze body fluids, such as blood, urine and tissue samples and record normal or abnormal findings
- study blood samples for use in transfusions by identifying the number of cells, the cell morphology or the blood group, blood type and compatibility with other blood types
- operate sophisticated laboratory equipment, such as microscopes and cell counters
Upon completion of the Medical Laboratory Technician program, our graduates will leave school qualified to sit for the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) board certification.
What Career Opportunities Does a Medical Laboratory Technician Have?
Training will prepare you for a variety of opportunities including:
- using automated equipment and computerized instruments capable of performing a number of tests at the same time
