How does a MSOL differ from an MBA, MHA, or MPH?
These degrees can all lead to leadership and management roles, but they take different approaches. An MBA is a broad business degree covering finance, marketing, operations and strategy across industries. A Master of Health Administration (MHA) focuses specifically on the business and operational management of health care organizations. A Master of Public Health (MPH) focuses on population health, epidemiology, and public health policy.
Pima Medical Institute’s of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) focuses on leading people, teams, and organizations, with an emphasis on communication, ethics, change management and organizational behavior. With specialization tracks in Health Care Administration and Public Health Administration, it is designed for professionals whose goals are rooted in health care or public health leadership specifically.
Program Objective
The Master of Science in Organizational Leadership prepares graduate students to lead diverse organizations amidst a rapidly changing global landscape. In-depth examination of traditional and contemporary theories, coupled with research on communication, organizational behavior, and managing change, provides the framework for building advanced leadership skills. Students will cultivate a personal leadership approach that inspires diverse teams to work together and effect positive change for the diverse communities in which they serve and operate. The curriculum is designed to equip students with practical and analytical tools to successfully lead organizations through today’s organizational challenges. Graduates of this program receive a Master of Science Degree.

The Professional Capstone Project
The professional capstone project is where two years of graduate-level leadership education becomes something tangible. Rather than completing a traditional thesis or final exam, you will develop a capstone that connects your coursework directly to a real leadership challenge in your field.
The capstone is designed to be immediately relevant to your career. Whether you are addressing an operational challenge in your current organization, developing a strategic proposal for a role you are moving into, or applying public health frameworks to a community issue you care about, the work you produce reflects the kind of thinking that sets effective leaders apart. It is also the piece of work you walk away from the program with, a demonstration of your graduate-level capabilities that you can speak to in interviews, promotion conversations, and professional settings.
Two Specialization Tracks
Pima Medical’s Master of Science in Organizational Leadership offers two specialization tracks. Both are built on the same leadership core curriculum and culminate in the same professional capstone, but each is designed to develop expertise in a distinct area of practice.
Health Care Administration Track
Best for professionals working in or moving toward leadership roles within clinical and administrative health care organizations. Core topics include:

Master of Science in Organizational Leadership Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants to this degree program must have graduated with a minimum of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited program recognized by the US Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) earning a 2.75 GPA or greater.

This approach is designed to provide you with maximum flexibility in your professional pursuits—allowing you to pursue opportunities within healthcare as well as in broader leadership roles across other industries, if you choose.

State Licensure Determination Disclosure
The Master of Science in Organizational Leadership program is offered via an online delivery method. Pima Medical Institute is an approved institution through the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC SARA) which allows Pima Medical Institute Tucson to offer distance learning programs to residents of states other than Arizona. Participation in NC SARA does not exempt an institution from state professional licensing requirements.
A student’s physical location is determined at the time of enrollment by submission of government-issued identification as well as a student attestation of their physical location in the enrollment agreement. Students agree to update the institution if their physical location changes. Students are able to notify the institution of a change to their physical location in the Pima Medical Institute Student Portal. Prospective students and enrolled students should understand that a change in physical location may adversely impact a student’s ability to complete the program. If a student is planning to relocate he or she is required to discuss this with the Student Services Coordinator and/or Program Director.
In compliance with 34 CFR 668.43 Pima Medical Institute has made a reasonable effort to determine graduate eligibility for licensure in all states for programs designed and advertised as leading to licensure.
