All signs are pointing to a promising outlook for jobs in the healthcare sector. According to a recent Wall Street Journal article titled “Hot Healthcare Hiring Bolsters Cooling U.S. Labor Market,” rapid growth in healthcare hiring is bolstering a cooling US job market. Despite the overall slowdown in hiring across various other industries, the demand for healthcare professionals continues to rise. The article states that this trend is driven by factors such as an aging population, advancements in medical technology and the increased focus on preventative healthcare.

The article goes on to state that the healthcare industry could serve as a strong job generator for years to come. According to Julia Pollak, chief economist at ZipRecruiter, “As behavior returns to normal-as kids go back to germ-factory indoor play spaces and daycare centers, and as people schedule elective procedures and catch up on routine scans delayed during the height of the pandemic-providers are having to staff up to keep up with demand.”

The US Labor Department reports that healthcare providers, including hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and doctors’ offices accounted for 30% of US job gains in the last six months, through October.

As the greater need for healthcare services continues, more people may begin looking to start or advance their healthcare education, or make a decision to re-career. Pima Medical Institute, a medical career college founded more 50 years ago in Tucson, Ariz., with campuses across the western US, is at the forefront of educating and preparing individuals for success in the healthcare industry. With a wide range of programs, all focused on allied health, Pima Medical offers comprehensive training programs aimed at providing students with the skills and knowledge needed to be ready to start their careers with confidence.

Many of our certificate programs allow graduates to be prepared to enter the workforce in as little as nine months.”

Pima Medical offers certificate, associate degree, bachelor’s degree and even a master’s degree program, all focused on medical, dental or veterinary. With on-campus, hybrid and online options, there is something to fit just about any students’ needs.

The Wall Street Journal article points out that the biggest challenge for healthcare continues to be a shortage in workers.

If someone has been contemplating a career in the medical field, now is a great time to get started.
