Our Houston Campus recently attended the annual conference for the Career Colleges and Schools of Texas (CCST.) At the conference, Dr. John Puryear and the Dental Hygiene program walked away with prestigious honors.
Dr. John Puryear is the Pharmacy Technician Lead Instructor at the Houston campus and won Texas Instructor of the Year.
“Dr. Puryear is a dedicated and highly knowledgeable instructor who cares about his students,” said Philip Heine, Pima Medical Institute Houston Campus Director. “Dr. Puryear is tremendously committed to his students’ success in the program as well as their success in earning certification and finding gainful employment in the pharmacy technician field.”
In addition, the Dental Hygiene Department won the annual CCST Innovator of the Year Award for a new education model created to accommodate a census of 80 students instead of 60 students. Dr. Kimberly Peacher was instrumental in implementing and executing on the idea.
“Dr. Peacher has shown herself and her entire department as true innovators,” added Heine. “She has done a sensational job of implementing the plan. I couldn’t be prouder of her and the entire Dental Hygiene Department.”
In addition to the awards received, Pima Medical Respiratory Therapy student Samuel James served on a panel to discuss “Why Veterans Choose Career Colleges/Schools.”
“Samuel did an outstanding job,” continued Heine. “He represented Pima Medical with pride and emphasized his appreciation for the individualized attention he has received. Samuel is a shining example of our student population.”
