For more than 45 years, Pima Medical Institute has been dedicated to providing its students with the in-demand, hands-on education employers expect. The Colorado Springs campus has been serving its community since 2002 and is now offering a new medical laboratory technician (MLT) associate degree program.
Students accepted into the MLT program will develop the skills needed for a solid entry-level position as a medical laboratory technician. Upon completion of the program, they will be prepared to pass the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or the American Medical Technologist (AMT) registry exams. The coursework for this program focuses on a variety of areas of the laboratory including phlebotomy, hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunohematology and blood banking.
“We want our MLT students to embody the traits of successful professionals, including dependability, organization and critical thinking skills as well as the interpersonal skills that are so important,” said Pima Medical Institute Colorado Springs Campus Director, Tara Dailey. “With a new curriculum developed through advisory board feedback, community input and current needs in the field, our graduates will enter the workforce ready to immediately contribute.”

The campus is conveniently located off I-25 and Rockrimmon, across the street from the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame, making for centralized access to residents of Colorado Springs and the surrounding areas.
