MESA, Ariz. (Jan. 17, 2013) – Pima Medical Institute, a leading private medical training college, announced today a new bachelor’s degree in health care administration. The degree completion program, designed for current health care professionals, is offered exclusively online.

Pima Medical Institute’s Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration (BSHCA) helps students develop strategies to analyze behavioral, ethical and cultural trends that impact management in health care systems with diverse populations; demonstrate the ability to evaluate ethical, legal and regulatory policies; and demonstrate a mastery of core business theories as applied to health care systems.

The BSHCA is a four-semester degree-completion program requiring that applicants possess a high school diploma or recognized equivalency, a health science associate degree and have completed a total of 64 semester credits at the postsecondary level.

The 64 transfer credits must include 17 general education credits, 26 health care credits and 21 related credits. The program can be completed in 16 months or less, depending on the number of transfer credits.

“For 40 years, Pima Medical Institute has been dedicated to helping students discover their career passions, prepare them for careers and provide them with the skills they need to succeed. With our new Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration, we continue to meet the needs of our communities and our country,” said Mark Luebke, president of Pima Medical Institute.

“By offering the BSHCA program online, we hope our students can find a balance between their personal and professional responsibilities, and getting a quality education that can help them earn leadership positions.” Health care administration is one of the fastest growing occupations in the country, with employment expected to grow 22 percent through 2020, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The online offering of the BSHCA program provides students with flexibility, allowing them to better balance their education with their personal and professional commitments. The program content includes a variety of subjects such as courses on health insurance management, health care law, emergency response operations, health care policy and more. Financial aid is available to those who qualify, and Pima Medical Institute offers career planning services – such as help with writing resumes and sharpening interview skills – for every student.
