Our
Dillon, Montana campus hosted an open house on June 21, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dozens of visitors received a firsthand look at the hands-on experience students in the
Veterinary Technician associate degree and
Veterinary Assistant certificate programs receive in their respective programs. The open house also offered the opportunity for prospective students to meet faculty, see demonstrations and review curriculum.
The only Veterinary Technician and Veterinary Assistant programs in the state, the programs are located on the campus of the University of Montana, Western. Programs are offered in collaboration with the university, giving students the Pima Medical Institute curriculum, as well as a full campus experience.
Pima Medical’s Veterinary Technician program received its American Veterinary Medical Association accreditation in May 2017, and graduated its first cohort of students that same month.
Curriculum focuses on hands-on training, caring for domestic animals, livestock and even exotic animals. Over the programs’ 18-month period, students learn animal behavior, care, surgical assisting, laboratory testing and nursing procedures. Veterinary technicians that graduate are qualified to work closely with veterinarians in the areas of surgery, lab procedures and radiography.
The open house was featured on various newscasts in the market, including KTMF featured above.
