National Nurses Week has been celebrated for more than 40 years. Beginning officially on May 6, National Nurses Week acknowledges the challenging job of being a nurse and lets nurses know their hard work is recognized and appreciated. Nursing is a critical field and Pima Medical Institute has been educating nurses and other students preparing for a career in the healthcare industry since 1972.

Pima Medical’s flagship campus, located in Tucson, features a nursing simulation lab with arena seating and multiple simulation mannequins to provide the hands-on learning environment that is synonymous with a Pima Medical Institute education.  The community, as well as prospective students had the opportunity to tour the expansive 50,000 square foot facility and the impressive simulation lab May 7-9 during a campus-wide Open House.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the need for registered nurses is expected to grow. At Pima Medical Institute, students acquire the knowledge of anatomy and physiology, growth and development, pharmacology, nutrition, nursing theory and skills for patient care across the life span.

Upon graduation from Pima Medical Institute’s associate degree program, students will be eligible to sit for the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX), administered by the State Board of Nursing. After passing, students will become a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state administering the exam.

“We’ve been committed to our students and the community since we first opened our doors in Tucson back in 1972,” said Fred Freedman, President and CEO of Pima Medical Institute. “There is no better time to highlight our campus, our Nursing program and simulation lab, than during National Nurses week. Nurses are a critical part of any healthcare team and they deserve our respect and thanks.”

Pima Medical Institute has been educating students and preparing them for meaningful healthcare careers for more than 47 years. Known for the hands-on learning and real-world settings it provides its students, Pima Medical prides itself on offering the best learning experience possible. With more than 120,000 graduates, Pima Medical continues to be viewed as one of the top healthcare career colleges in the Western United States.

Pima Medical Institute also offers a Nursing associate degree program at its Mesa, Arizona campus.
