Pima Medical Institute has officially launched a Medical Administrative Assistant certificate program at its Mesa Campus. Now students across the Valley can become key front-office members of the medical team, at our East Valley, Phoenix and Mesa campuses.
Medical administrative assistants greet patients, manage electronic health records and ensure the office operates efficiently while also fostering a friendly and positive patient experience. Medical administrative assistants are not directly involved with patient care. Instead, they play an important role by greeting patients, triaging appointments and providing additional assistance where needed.
Students graduating from this program will be prepared to work with electronic health records and current software technologies. Graduates will be able to verify medical insurance, perform medical billing and coding tasks, prepare correspondence, triage appointments and assist physicians with reports, articles and conference proceedings.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the employment of medical administrative assistants is projected to grow 22 percent by 2026, much faster than the average of other occupations.
