From Phlebotomy to Doctor: Collin’s Inspiring Medical Journey!

Follow your passion for a career in healthcare and make a difference.

Collin is a graduate of our Phlebotomy program at the Mesa campus. His certificate gave him an opportunity to start a rewarding career. His ultimate goal was to become a physician, and we have an exciting update to share!  Collin was accepted into medical school and is graduating residency shortly. He’ll be a practicing family medicine doctor in Arizona and says he has Pima Medical to thank for his start.

Collin told us, “I still use some of the phlebotomy skills I learned, even to this day. Shout out to Mc. Lei Sean!

Here is Collin’s “original” success story.

“My ultimate goal is to become a physician. I found Pima Medical Institute by searching online for a Phlebotomy certification that was quick to achieve from a reputable source. Phlebotomy was the right choice for me since I enjoy working with my hands and using my motor skills to help patients, not only for the day-to-day life, but for learning as well.

My experience as a student with Pima Medical was incredibly positive. My instructor clarified the content in ways that my colleagues and I could understand. She was very good at citing something that we just learned about in real-world application so it didn’t seem so abstract. I really appreciated the matching process to externship sites. I was looking for a hospital setting and Pima Medical found me an externship at Banner University Medical Center where I practiced interacting with patients and learned so much.

I have been working as a Phlebotomy Technician at Sonora Quest while studying for the Medical Colleges Admission Test (MCAT) and preparing applications for medical school. I recently made it to the interview process and am hoping to hear back soon regarding acceptance into medical school.

Pima Medical definitely prepared me for my profession and I would strongly recommend them to anyone who has a serious goal of working in the medical arena. Whether you want to go into Phlebotomy, or are open to other programs, Pima Medical provides you with the education and the professionalism you need to succeed in the medical field.”

If you are interested in healthcare and not sure where to begin, the phlebotomy program may be the hands-on, patient-focused training that sets you on the right career path.
